What is safe grading and cash rating and why is it important?

Like all reputable security products, each safe is tested and classified by the level of security it provides and is designated a cash rating from £1,000 to £650,000. For the storage of valuables, the ratings are calculated by multiplying the cash amount by 10. It is important to choose the correct model with a sufficient cash rating that corresponds with its intended use as this relates to the amount insurers will cover for the contents stored in a particular model of safe overnight. In most instances your insurance company will specify the cash rating and grading you will require. Cash ratings are a guide only and your insurance company should be consulted before you purchase.

European safe cash rating

Grade 0 £6,000.00

Grade 1 £10,000.00

Grade 2 £17,500.00

Grade 4 £60,000.00

Grade 5 £100,000.00
